Snact, makers of deliciously sustainable snacks, launched their range of fruit jerky in the UK’s largest organic supermarket, Planet Organic, and in the iconic food hall of London’s Selfridges this January.

Almost everyday in January and February, Snact has been and will sampling their products in health shops across the city, including As Nature Intended and Sourced Market. Responding to the major food trends of 2017, Snact are meeting consumer demand for healthier free-from snacking choices while demonstrating commitment to environmental responsibility.

Ilana, Snact’s co-founder, said:

“We want to start the new year with a bang and give our consumers the product they are looking for: healthy, convenient, and with a positive impact on the environment. People are more and more interested in their wellbeing, but also the implications of their lifestyles on the planet. We want to not only meet these expectations, but surpass them, offering our consumers an opportunity to be pro-active about issues they care about: quality of ingredients, local sourcing, reducing food waste and packaging waste.”

Of course, there’s no better time to promote healthier lifestyle choices than January. The Veganuary campaign, advocating the vegan diet, has seen an extraordinary rise in profile and popularity. The number of participants has increased by 600% in the last two years with 23,000 registered participants in 2016. And consumers are not just looking for brief flirts with healthier eating choices – 81% of those surveyed intended to continue their vegan diets beyond January.

It’s clear that Snact’s fruit jerky passes the food trends test with flying colours:

handmade on a family farm in Kent, the product is both vegan and gluten free as it’s made of 100% fresh fruit.

The brand has already doubled its impact in 2017, having recently acquired 100 tonnes of surplus apples from Kent. The team at Snact are expecting to save even more fruit later in the year and has exciting new products in the pipeline. With plenty more growth planned for 2017,
